Chain guide for 1x drivetrains. It bolts to the front derailleur mount and keeps the chain on a single chainring over rough ground.

The Valois Chain Guide is for bikes that run one chainring and no front derailleur. It mounts to the front derailleur tab on the frame, where the derailleur used to sit, and holds the chain on the ring. On gravel, broken roads and hard impacts, that stops the chain bouncing off the ring and dropping into the frame.

A narrow-wide chainring holds the chain well most of the time. The guide covers the moments it does not, when the surface is rough and the chain loads and unloads fast. It bolts to a mount already on the frame, so there is nothing extra to add.

Running one chainring removes the front derailleur, the shifter and the cabling that go with it. The Valois Chain Guide takes the place of the derailleur and does one job: keep the chain on the ring.

Security on rough ground

The guide earns its place where the riding is rough. Gravel, ruts and hard hits load and unload the chain in a way smooth tarmac does not, and that is when a chain leaves the ring.
