Terms of service

Last updated: 17.11.2025

1. General

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern the use of the IKUISTA website and all purchases made through the IKUISTA online store.

IKUISTA is operated by:

Ikuista Bicycles, Hyllilänkuja 7 33730 Tampere Finland VAT ID: FI10290961

Throughout the site, the terms "IKUISTA", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Ikuista Bicycles.

By accessing the website or placing an order, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Services.

These Terms apply to consumers located within the European Union and the European Economic Area. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights under the laws of your country of residence.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding contracts.

You confirm that purchases are made for personal, non-commercial use only. Commercial resale, rental fleet use, courier use, commercial tours, or other professional deployment is prohibited unless separately agreed in writing.

3. Product Information and Specifications

We reserve the right to modify future product specifications, geometry, components, materials, colours, compatibility, and pricing at any time and without prior notice.

Confirmed orders will not be changed unless required for safety, regulatory compliance, or component availability beyond our control. If a change to a confirmed order is material, we will offer a component of equivalent or better specification, and you may cancel the order for a full refund if you do not accept the substitution.

Product images are illustrative. Actual colour tones, finishes, decals, and assembly details may vary.

4. Pricing and Taxes

All prices displayed for EU customers include applicable VAT. Shipping costs are displayed at checkout. Import duties and taxes may apply for deliveries outside the EU.

The binding price is the price confirmed at checkout and in the order confirmation email. We reserve the right to cancel orders resulting from obvious pricing errors.

5. Order Acceptance

An order placed by the Customer constitutes an offer to purchase. The contract is formed only when IKUISTA sends a written order confirmation.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel orders in cases including but not limited to suspected fraud, pricing errors, product unavailability, suspected resale, or compliance concerns. If payment has been processed for a cancelled order, it will be refunded.

6. Payment

Accepted payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, Zaver and Klarna (subject to Klarna's terms). Payment must be received before shipment. You warrant that you are authorized to use the selected payment method.

Store credit and vouchers issued by IKUISTA (including trade-in credit and recycling vouchers) are personal, tied to your IKUISTA account, non-transferable, and not redeemable for cash. Their specific conditions, including validity periods and usage limits, are stated in the applicable program terms. If you withdraw from or cancel a purchase paid partly with a voucher or credit, the voucher or credit is returned to your account as voucher or credit, not as cash.

7. Shipping and Risk Transfer

Delivery is available within the European Union.

Delivery times shown are estimates. Unless a delivery date has been expressly agreed, we will deliver without undue delay and no later than required by applicable consumer law. As our bicycles are made to order, the estimated production and delivery time is stated at checkout and in the order confirmation.

Risk of loss or damage transfers to the Customer when the goods are physically delivered to the Customer or to a third party designated by the Customer. If the Customer arranges their own carrier, risk transfers upon handover to that carrier. Title transfers upon full payment.

We are not liable for delays caused by carriers, customs, force majeure events, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control, without limiting your statutory remedies for late delivery.

8. Right of Withdrawal

Standard-configuration bicycles. Bicycles ordered in a standard model, standard colourway, and standard size options are covered by the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal, counted from the day you receive the bicycle. This applies even though the bicycle is assembled to order. To withdraw, notify us within 14 days and return the bicycle without undue delay and at the latest within 14 days of your notice. You bear the direct cost of returning the bicycle.

You may inspect the bicycle as you would in a shop: unpack it, examine it, and check the fit. If the value of the bicycle is diminished by handling beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning, for example by riding it outdoors, we may deduct the corresponding diminished value from your refund, as permitted by EU consumer law.

Personalised bicycles. In accordance with Article 16(c) of Directive 2011/83/EU, the right of withdrawal does not apply to bicycles manufactured to your individual specifications or clearly personalised, such as custom paintwork, non-standard geometry, or a component configuration specified by you outside our standard options. Whether a build is personalised in this sense is stated clearly on the product page and at checkout before you order.

Accessories and merchandise. The statutory 14-day right of withdrawal applies.

The detailed procedure for returns is described in the Refund Policy. Statutory rights relating to defective or non-conforming goods remain fully applicable and are separate from the right of withdrawal.

9. Assembly and Safety Responsibility

IKUISTA bicycles may require final assembly upon delivery.

The Customer is responsible for correct torque settings, proper installation of handlebars, wheels, and seatpost, brake alignment, drivetrain adjustment, and conducting a full safety inspection before the first ride. If the Customer does not have sufficient technical competence, professional assembly by a certified bicycle mechanic is strongly recommended.

IKUISTA is not liable for damage, injury, or defects caused by improper assembly, incorrect torque, incompatible component installation, modifications after delivery, or failure to perform safety checks.

Failure to follow assembly instructions affects warranty coverage only to the extent that the failure caused or contributed to the damage. IKUISTA remains liable for defects existing at the time of delivery in accordance with applicable law.

10. Limitation of Use

IKUISTA bicycles are designed for intended cycling use as specified per model (e.g. road, gravel, endurance).

Prohibited uses include downhill riding unless explicitly approved, dirt jumping, stunt riding, bike park use, rental fleets, courier or messenger services, and commercial tours.

Participation in competitive racing or high-intensity events may increase wear and stress on the product and does not extend warranty coverage beyond normal intended use. Use outside the intended category affects warranty coverage to the extent that such use caused or contributed to the damage, and to the extent permitted by law.

11. Warranty

IKUISTA products are covered by your statutory rights under the consumer laws of your country of residence, which are at least 2 years from delivery under EU law and longer in some countries.

The voluntary warranties provided by IKUISTA, including the registered 5-year frame warranty and the Motion & Beyond extended warranty, add to your statutory rights and never limit them. Detailed terms are described in the Warranty Policy.

12. Crash Replacement

Crash replacement is available exclusively as part of the Motion & Beyond extended warranty and is subject to the conditions and usage limits described in the Warranty Policy. It is not insurance. Crash replacement of the frame or fork may be used once during the warranty period.

13. Trade-in, Renewed, and Recycling Programs

IKUISTA operates voluntary trade-in ("Ikuista Renewed") and recycling ("End of the Road") programs. Each program has its own terms, available on the respective program pages, which form part of the contract when you use the program. Key principles common to the programs:

  • Trade-in credit and recycling vouchers are issued to your IKUISTA account, are personal and non-transferable, and can be used only toward the purchase of a new IKUISTA bicycle.
  • IKUISTA verifies frame serial numbers against its records and available stolen-bike registers, and may withhold credit or vouchers and notify the authorities where a bicycle is reported stolen or ownership cannot be verified.
  • Final trade-in values are set by workshop inspection. Estimates shown before inspection are indicative only.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IKUISTA shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of income, loss of use, loss of opportunity, travel costs, or competition entry fees.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, mandatory statutory consumer rights, or liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

15. Intellectual Property

All trademarks, designs, geometry data, product names, graphics, technical documentation, and digital content are the property of IKUISTA or its licensors. Unauthorized reproduction, modification, reverse engineering, or commercial use is prohibited.

16. Force Majeure

IKUISTA shall not be liable for delay or failure to perform obligations due to events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to supply chain disruptions, strikes, natural disasters, regulatory changes, governmental actions, or other force majeure events.

17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by Finnish law, without depriving you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence.

Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of the Customer's place of residence where required by mandatory consumer law.

Consumers may also submit disputes to the competent consumer dispute body in their country of residence. In Finland this is the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariitalautakunta). For cross-border disputes within the EU, the European Consumer Centres Network (ECC-Net) provides free assistance.

18. End of the Road — Program Terms

1. What the program is. End of the Road is a voluntary recycling program operated by Ikuista Bicycles. We accept bicycles at the end of their life, of any brand, and route them to recycling through our partner Kuusakoski. In return, we issue a voucher toward a new IKUISTA bicycle. The program is not a statutory right and may be amended or discontinued for future submissions; vouchers already issued remain valid on their original terms.

2. What we accept. A complete adult bicycle: frame, fork, wheels, and drivetrain present. Bare frames, children's bicycles, scooters, and partial bikes are not eligible for a voucher, though we may still recycle them without one. E-bikes are not currently accepted.

3. Sending a bike in. Register the bike through the End of the Road form before sending it, and pack it securely. You cover the inbound postage. Once the bike reaches us, we handle everything else, including transport to recycling.

4. The voucher. One voucher of [150 €] is issued per recycled bicycle to the Ikuista account of the person who submitted it, once the bike has arrived and been checked in. [Jos porrastus: An IKUISTA bicycle verified by its frame number earns [200 €]; other brands earn [150 €].] The voucher:

  • is personal, tied to your Ikuista account, and cannot be transferred or sold
  • is limited to one per person per 12 months
  • is valid for 12 months from issue
  • can be used only toward the purchase of a new IKUISTA bicycle, up to 10% of the bicycle's price
  • cannot be combined with other vouchers or discount campaigns
  • has no cash value and is not redeemable for money

If you withdraw from a purchase paid partly with a voucher, the voucher returns to your account with a renewed validity period, as described in our Terms of Service.

5. Bikes with life left in them. If a submitted IKUISTA bicycle passes our inspection and is fit for resale, we may offer you trade-in credit through Ikuista Renewed instead of the voucher. The credit offer will always be at least equal to the voucher. You may accept the credit or keep the voucher; either way, the bike does not go back into circulation unrefurbished.

6. Ownership and stolen bikes. We verify IKUISTA frame numbers against our records and check available stolen-bike registers where a serial number is readable. If a bicycle is reported stolen or ownership cannot be verified, we withhold the voucher, retain the bicycle, and notify the authorities where appropriate.

7. Finality. Recycling is irreversible. Once a bicycle has been routed to our recycling partner, it cannot be returned, and no compensation is payable for the bicycle or anything attached to it. Please remove personal accessories, locks, computers, and sentimental items before sending.

8. General. These terms form part of our Terms of Service. Nothing in them limits your statutory rights. Governed by Finnish law, without depriving you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence.

19. Ikuista Renewed — Program Terms

1. What the program is. Ikuista Renewed is a voluntary trade-in and resale program operated by Ikuista Bicycles. We buy back IKUISTA bicycles, refurbish them in our own workshop against our published 68-point inspection standard, and resell them as Renewed bicycles. The program is not a statutory right and may be amended or discontinued for future submissions; offers already accepted remain valid on their terms.

2. Eligibility. Trade-in is available for IKUISTA bicycles only, identified by frame number. The online estimate uses the details you enter; the binding valuation is based on the bicycle's original order record and our workshop inspection. Bicycles of other brands are not eligible for trade-in but are welcome in our End of the Road recycling program.

3. Sending a bike in. Start the trade-in through the form, pack the bicycle securely, and post it to us. You cover the inbound postage. The bicycle remains your property and at your risk until it reaches us.

4. Inspection and offer. Our workshop inspects the bicycle against the 68-point standard and sets a condition grade, which determines the final credit offer. The offer is sent to your Ikuista account. If you accept, the credit is issued and ownership of the bicycle transfers to us. If you decline, we return the bicycle to you; you cover the return postage. If you do not respond within 30 days of the offer, we send one reminder, after which a further 30 days of silence is treated as acceptance of the offer.

5. The credit. Trade-in credit is personal, tied to your Ikuista account, non-transferable, has no cash value, and can be used only toward the purchase of a new IKUISTA bicycle. Credit is valid for 24 months from issue. If you withdraw from a purchase paid partly with credit, the credit returns to your account with a renewed validity period.

6. Bikes that do not qualify for resale. If the bicycle fails a structural check or refurbishment is not economically viable, we will not issue trade-in credit. In that case you may choose between the End of the Road recycling voucher or return of the bicycle at your cost. Safety is not negotiable: a frame that cannot be certified safe is never resold, regardless of cosmetic condition.

7. Ownership and stolen bikes. We verify the frame number against our ownership and transfer records and available stolen-bike registers before issuing credit. If the bicycle is reported stolen, the registered owner differs from the sender without a recorded transfer, or ownership cannot otherwise be verified, we withhold credit, retain the bicycle, and notify the authorities where appropriate.

8. Renewed bicycles we sell. Every Renewed bicycle is sold with its inspection record, condition grade, photographs including any cosmetic flaws, the remaining transferable IKUISTA warranty registered to the new owner, and a voluntary 30-day return in addition to your statutory rights. The value-reduction principles of our Return & Withdrawal Policy apply to Renewed returns.

9. General. These terms form part of our Terms of Service. Nothing in them limits your statutory rights. Governed by Finnish law, without depriving you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence.

20. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain valid and enforceable.

21. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect legal, technical, or operational changes. Material changes will be notified where required by law. The latest version is always available on our website.
